About Charging For Hope - Wayne Manor (Duke University)
Spreading Hope was founded in 2020 in memory of Greyson Spector, who tragically died by suicide just before he was to graduate from Duke University and begin his journey at Duke’s School of Law. Out of this devastating loss grew a mission filled with love, purpose, and determination. With the unwavering support of lifelong friends and my Wayne Manor community at Duke, we have committed ourselves to two urgent goals: breaking down the stigma around mental health, and fueling critical research into the diagnosis and treatment of mental illness. This mission is not only deeply personal — it is profoundly urgent. Suicide has become a very real epidemic for our generation, and we refuse to stand by in silence.As a community, we embrace the power of peer normalization — the simple yet life-changing truth that it is okay not to be okay. For the past two years, our team has proudly walked together in the Walk for Hope. In our very first year, we were honored to rise to the leaderboard and earn a team flag. But beyond the recognition, it was the energy, the joy, and the unity of that day that reminded us of why we fight. Those moments captured the very essence of hope — hope that carries us forward.
With the strength of Duke University behind us, and the collective dedication of my “brothers” in Wayne Manor, we are determined to lead Duke — a second home for my three brothers and I — into becoming a force for change in the fight against mental illness.
Our goal is simple yet bold: to make the greatest impact possible by championing the vital work of the Foundation of Hope. Together, we believe we can spread awareness, advance research, and build a future where no one ever has to suffer alone in silence.

Why am I fundraising?
